DEXA / Bone Density Scan
DEXA is an abbreviation for "dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry." A bone density test is for determining the bone mass in specific areas of the skeleton, such as the hip, wrist, or spine.
DEXA scans are extremely useful in the diagnosis of osteoporosis. For women over the age of 65 and men over the age of 70, a bone density test is recommended.
Doctors may also recommend a DEXA scan to track bone health, evaluate body composition, or monitor a patient's response to treatment. Our experienced radiologists interpret the findings and provide a timely report.
List of Tests
